Five favourite films – part 1

Blog

As you can tell from the title of this blog, there’s two things we like at Harris: films and alliteration.

It’s been another spectacular year for us on the film front, so as 2015 draws to a close, we’re going to reflect on our five favourite films of the year – one week at a time.

To kick things off, we’re starting with Guy’s trip to South Africa with Novus Property Solutions to refurbish the rundown Busy Bees Nursery, because one does not simply travel to South Africa, refurbish a nursery and not feature it as a top film of 2015.

Busy Bees Nursery caters for more than 200 children and is located in an area that has suffered from problems with crime and gang activity in recent years. Novus Property Solutions undertook an extensive refurbishment of the nursery, which included painting doors, climbing frames and the exterior of the building, replacing broken panels and adding colourful stencils to the classroom walls. In addition to the refurbishment, Novus donated a host of new toys and sports equipment.

The trip was a success in terms of completing the project, yes, but the experience itself was so much more rewarding than anyone could have imagined. Everyone involved took away memories and relationships that will last a lifetime. The look on the children’s faces as they could see the transformation of their classrooms and play areas is something that will live with the whole team for a very, very long time.

Shot as a colourful travel vlog on an iPhone and then edited into a watchable film, we think it perfectly captures the spirit of the amazing project.
